Huyton Masterplan by MBLA Architects + Urbanists

As masterplanners to the Focus Consortium (George Wimpey, Barratt and David Wilson Homes), MBLA produced the masterplan for the regeneration of North Huyton, Liverpool. Central to the redevelopment was a new school, improved connections to the south and west existing housing and the development of 1,400 new houses and apartments. Using the River Alt as a focus for the area, the proposal took great advantage of the areas existing links to market gardening not only as a development potentially but as a key to the areas future prosperity with respect to local employment. The Alt was used as a focus for these proposals which were then framed and linked to other areas of the strategy by new roads, landscape and residential developments. The Alt River was expanded to form basins adjacent to the new secondary school and to the north east as a location for high value apartments.
