WOODS END

Posted: 10th January 2006

Didsbury, Manchester (2006)

The site for these contemporary apartments within Didsbury conservation area was subject to a negotiated planning requirement to avoid built-in obsolescence. Our client originally intended to develop the site as pre-let commercial office space. MBLA developed a flexible design that allowed the building shells to be adapted as either office or residential units. As the scheme progressed, our client, JPS Real Estate, decided the development added so much value to the site and its vicinity that high-specification residential use would best fit the site’s profile.
