The site comprised 280 acres of land traversed by two canals and three main arterial routes running between the East Manchester Stadium and Ancoats Urban Village. MBLA were employed by Manchester City Council to devise a masterplan study that formed part of the City’s brief for this significant strategic initiative.
MBLA’s later development of the plan for Laing Investments embodied the principles of sustainable communities within a strategy that created identifiable distinct neighbourhoods within the overall district. Comprehensive consultation meetings were held with the local residents during both phases of the scheme.
