The development of 44 apartments is the second phase of MBLA’s successful Bradshawgate redevelopment following the success of the Arches project. Retail units provide activity at street level, supporting two elements of separately articulated apartments. The front wing of apartments is set back from the building line to increase privacy for the dwellings above: this also provides a more commanding vista from Great Moor Street. The apartment wing facing Silverwell Lane is also set back and differentiated from the ground floor. This massing strategy provides a reducing scale of development through the site from Bradshawgate in response to the nature of the surrounding buildings while maintaining a density of development appropriate to its urban location.
