Lancaster (2009)

Sited on the main access into Lancaster from the M6 motorway, this new residential building sits on top of the existing listed facades to the city’s former bus station.  The circular format of the proposal is a direct response to the found configuration of the site which is effectively a traffic island. Residential parking is confined within the footprint of the listed building with the residential accommodation above formed around an internal landscaped courtyard.  This courtyard acts as an oasis against the aggressive traffic in the area and contains 4 amenity platforms for the residents of the building.
